JOURNEY
Dr. Menzies was heavily involved in athletics during high school and was a student-athlete on the track team of the University of California, Irvine. After college, he earned a masters degree in exercise physiology from the University of Texas at Austin and was very involved with the UT football team as a graduate assistant. During this time and throughout medical school and residency he completed multiple marathons and half-Ironman triathlons. This background drove him towards a career in non-operative sports medicine. He is now channeling that same passion to individuals so they can achieve their own personal goals of health and wellness.
His training led to a diverse background of sports coverage. He was a TCU football team physician from 2008-2014 and was on the sidelines for their memorable 2011 Rose Bowl victory. Additionally, he was one of the lead boxing and UFC physicians in Texas for many years and had the privilege of being a physician for the 2010 U.S. Olympic boxing trials as well as being Manny Pacquio’s ringside doctor for his 2010 title fight against Joshua Clottey at Cowboys stadium.
After graduation he stayed at John Peter Smith hospital and served as the medical director of the pain management department for several years as well as faculty of the sports department. In addition to his love of teaching hospital residents and medical students he also published multiple research articles and was a featured international speaker on new pain interventional techniques to help with knee osteoarthritis.
HONORS
Fort Worth, Texas magazine every year sends more than 4,500 local physicians a survey asking them to voluntarily rate their peers and name the best doctors in Tarrant County. Medical professionals willing to participate go online to cast their votes. Dr. Menzies has been voted 12 years straight by his peers as a Top Doctor from 2012 to 2022. Additionally in the first three years of his practice he was the recipient of the Dallas/Fort Worth “Rising Stars” award.

Undergraduate: Nursing – Angelo State University (San Angelo, TX)
2006 – 2011 Graduate: Nurse Practitioner – Angelo State University (San Angelo, TX)
2012 – 2015 Fellowship: Carilion Clinic Emergency Department – (Roanoke, VA) 2016 – 2017
JOURNEY
Hayle was born in Ethiopia before coming to the United States and grew up in Austin, Texas. After graduating from nursing school, Hayle worked in both the intensive care unit and emergency department of local hospitals in Austin and West Texas. This is where Hayle found his interest pursuing his Nurse Practitioners degree. Hayle went on to further his training by accepting an emergency medicine fellowship affiliated with Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine and Research Institute. Here he was exposed to a variety of devastating complications associated with preventable chronic conditions. This combination of experience and exposure motivated Hayle to take an approach to healthcare that is focused on prevention and helping patients simply make healthier lifestyle choices.
OUTSIDE OF WORK
Hayle is a fitness buff and has always enjoyed the outdoors and outdoor related sporting activities. He also enjoys weightlifting, outside activities with his dog Carmela and has a passion for trying new ethnic cuisine. He was involved in basketball in high school and translated his athletic passion by always keeping himself involved with intramural sports in college. He most enjoys the outdoor aspect of sporting events and has now found interest in completing half marathons every few years. His most recent outdoor sport he is exploring is the art of the golf game. Although he is very much a beginner, Hayle has found interest in a challenging sport that keeps you outside and humbles even the best athletes. He has channeled his love for sports, and wellness to help engage and challenge those who want to see change.
Hayle understands that everyone’s personal goals of health and wellness are unique and wants to embody this difference because we all have personal stories that drive us. Given his added interest in preventative medicine, Hayle began taking several curriculum-based courses at The American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine (A4M) and routinely attends workshops to keep abreast of new innovative approaches to individualize and redefine modern medicine.
